Video Tutorial - CMYK

WTTB's resident Canva expert shares how to get perfect print colours in Canva. Learn why CMYK matters for print and the quick setting that keeps your designs sharp and vibrant.

If you're designing for print, knowing the difference between RGB and CMYK is key for making sure colours look right when printed.

So, what's CMYK? It stands for cyan, magenta, yellow, and key, which basically means black. These four inks are layered together in printing to create every shade you see. Now, most screens use RGB. That's red, green, and blue. On a screen, RGB looks bright and vibrant. But if you design in RGB and send that straight to print, the colours can come out dull, muted, or washed out. Here's how to get it right the first time.

Your file starts in RGB as default. But when you go to download and select PDF print, you'll see a drop down under colour profile. Change that from RGB to CMK for the best print ready result. Then hit download. Once you've uploaded your PDF, leave the rest to us. We'll make the magic happen.
