Design guidelines
To make artwork setup simple, download the relevant template from the Production templates section above. Follow the instructions provided and remember to remove the 'Guide' layer before exporting your artwork as a PDF.
For the best printing results, ensure your artwork and images are in CMYK. If you use RGB, Pantone or spot colours, these will be converted to CMYK during production, which may affect how your colours appear in print.
To avoid font issues, make sure all fonts are embedded or converted to outlines before exporting your PDF. For readability, we recommend using a minimum font size of 10pt.
For the best print quality, aim for images between 300dpi and 450dpi at their final print size. Lower resolutions may appear blurry or pixelated, while higher resolutions can increase file sizes. Check product template for any specific requirements.
To avoid alignment issues during cutting, include crop marks with a 10mm offset and document bleed when exporting your artwork as a PDF. Refer to the relevant product template for the required bleed specifications, as these vary by product.
All artwork must be supplied as a print ready PDF. We recommend exporting in Adobe PDF (Print) format, ideally using the PDF/X 1a:2001 standard.

Designing with Canva
We offer free Canva templates for many of our products, complete with the correct dimensions, bleed and safe zones. Where available, you'll find the Canva template in the Production templates section above, ready to open and personalise.

Canva uses RGB colour mode by default, which is designed for screens rather than print. For the best printing results, make sure you select CMYK when exporting your artwork. Converting from RGB to CMYK can cause slight colour shifts, so always check your exported PDF carefully before uploading to avoid unexpected results.
Need help with colours? Read our Canva colour guide.
Use fonts of at least 10pt to maintain legibility and keep important text within the safe zone. Use images at 300dpi or higher at their final size to avoid blurry or pixelated results.
Need help with image quality? Read our artwork resolution guide or watch our YouTube tutorial on how to export Canva designs for print.
Extend backgrounds, colours and images into the bleed area to avoid unwanted white edges after trimming. Keep important text, logos and design elements within the safe zone, and follow the bleed requirements for your chosen product.
Need help setting up bleed? Read our Canva bleed setup guide.
When exporting your finished design from Canva, select PDF Print and enable 'Crop Marks and Bleed'. This ensures your artwork includes the necessary bleed for printing. Remember to remove any template guides before downloading your file.

Silk offers a smooth finish with a subtle sheen, making it a versatile choice for business flyers and promotional handouts. Gloss has a shinier surface that suits colourful photography and image led designs. Uncoated has a natural matt feel and is the best choice if you need to write on your flyers.
Recycled paper offers a natural finish made from reclaimed fibres. For luxury flyer printing, explore our Pearl Oyster, Pearl Polar and Tintoretto Gesso stocks for a distinctive shimmer or texture. Available weights and finishes depend on your chosen paper.
Paper weight is measured in gsm, with higher numbers generally giving your flyers a heavier, more substantial feel.
Lighter papers suit large quantities of promotional handouts, while medium weights offer a balance between flexibility and substance. Heavier stocks are useful for premium business flyers, product inserts and promotional cards that customers are likely to keep. The feel also varies between paper stocks, so consider the material as well as its weight.
Choose from A7, A6, A5 and A4, plus DL and square formats. A5 flyers offer a practical balance of space and portability, while A6 suits compact promotions and inserts. A4 gives you more room for detailed information.
For custom flyer sizes, select Custom and enter your dimensions. If you need a larger standard format, explore our A3 flyers. For designs with folded panels, choose our folded leaflets.
Yes. Choose Single Sided for printing on the front only, with the back left blank, or Double Sided for printing on both the front and back.
Double sided flyer printing gives you more space for product information, offers or contact details without increasing the finished size. Supply a two page PDF, with the front first and the back second.
Lamination adds a protective layer and changes how your printed flyers look and feel. It is useful for items that will be handled repeatedly, but is not essential for everyday promotional handouts.
Choose gloss for a shiny finish, matt for a low sheen surface, or soft touch lamination for a velvety feel. Lamination is an additional finish, separate from your paper choice. For areas that need handwriting, choose an uncoated stock without lamination.
Yes. Gold or silver foil adds a metallic effect to selected details, while spot UV adds a raised glossy finish. Both are applied using Scodix technology and can highlight elements such as logos, headings or patterns.
These effects need dedicated artwork to identify where the finish should be applied. Follow the relevant gold foil, silver foil or spot UV guide in the guides section, and check the available options for your chosen paper and specification.
Yes. Use Versions to order different designs with the same size, paper and finishing specifications. Enter the number of designs under Versions and the number of copies needed for each under Quantity Per Version.
For example, 3 versions with a quantity of 100 per version gives you 300 flyers in total. Be sure to supply separate artwork for each design.
Yes. Select Personalisation to add changing text, such as a different name on each flyer, or Sequential Numbering to add consecutive numbers.
These options suit a shared design with details that change between copies. If you need separate designs, such as different offers or branch information, use Versions instead. Your artwork and any personalisation data will need to match your selected option.
Yes. You can select 10mm rounded corners or a single 6mm drill hole.
If you select drilling, the hole is positioned automatically. Do not include a printed hole marker in your final artwork, as this could leave a visible coloured ring around the hole. Keep important text and design details clear of the drilling area.
For a shaped outline, explore our Custom Shape Flyers.
