Lamination Guide

Lamination Guide

Understanding Gloss, Matt and Soft Touch Finishes

Understanding Gloss, Matt and Soft Touch Finishes

Lamination is a thin protective layer applied to your printed paper stocks. It not only enhances the visual appeal of your design but also provides essential protection against wear and tear.

Gloss Lamination

Gloss lamination produces a shiny, highly reflective sheen that makes your colours "pop."

Effect: Enhances the vibrancy and saturation of the ink.

Durability: Protects against stains, tears, and liquids.

Best For: Items that will be heavily handled, such as restaurant menus or promotional flyers.

Matt Lamination

Matt lamination provides a sophisticated, flat look to your artwork with very little sheen.

Effect: Gives a soft, elegant finish that deflects glare from direct lighting.

Readability: Makes text easier to read from any angle.

Best For: Signage or high-end brochures with large amounts of copy.

Soft Touch Lamination

Soft Touch lamination is a premium finish that adds a unique, velvet-like texture to the paper.

Effect: Provides a luxurious, matte appearance with a soft, "peach-skin" tactile feel.

Engagement: Creates a memorable first impression that encourages people to hold and feel the product.

Best For: High-end business cards and luxury brochures.

Gloss Flood UV

Unlike traditional film lamination, Flood UV is applied as a liquid and instantly cured using ultraviolet light.

Effect: Adds significant contrast and depth with a smooth, high-clarity varnish.

Process: The liquid bonds to the paper and dries instantly, sealing the ink under a protective coat.

Best For: Adding extra durability and an eye-catching shine to postcards, business cards and more.
