Design guidelines
To make artwork setup simple, download the relevant template from the Production templates section above. Follow the instructions provided and remember to remove the 'Guide' layer before exporting your artwork as a PDF.
For the best printing results, ensure your artwork and images are in CMYK. If you use RGB, Pantone or spot colours, these will be converted to CMYK during production, which may affect how your colours appear in print.
To avoid font issues, make sure all fonts are embedded or converted to outlines before exporting your PDF. For readability, we recommend using a minimum font size of 10pt.
For the best print quality, aim for images between 300dpi and 450dpi at their final print size. Lower resolutions may appear blurry or pixelated, while higher resolutions can increase file sizes. Check product template for any specific requirements.
To avoid alignment issues during cutting, include crop marks with a 10mm offset and document bleed when exporting your artwork as a PDF. Refer to the relevant product template for the required bleed specifications, as these vary by product.
All artwork must be supplied as a print ready PDF. We recommend exporting in Adobe PDF (Print) format, ideally using the PDF/X 1a:2001 standard.

Designing with Canva
We offer free Canva templates for many of our products, complete with the correct dimensions, bleed and safe zones. Where available, you'll find the Canva template in the Production templates section above, ready to open and personalise.
Once your design is complete, download it as a PDF Print file and return to our website to place your order and upload your artwork. Remember to remove any guide layers before exporting.

Perfect binding secures the inner pages to a separate wraparound cover using adhesive, creating a neat, square spine. Our perfect bound books use strong, flexible PUR glue and are suitable for catalogues, magazines, reports, manuals and other publications with larger page counts.
Choose perfect bound book printing when you want a soft cover publication with a professional book finish. For shorter publications, explore our stapled booklets, or choose wiro binding if your pages need to open flat.
You can order between 28 and 600 pages, including four cover pages, in multiples of two. Your total should include the inner pages plus the front cover, inside front cover, inside back cover and back cover.
For example, a book with 96 inner pages should be ordered as 100 pages including the cover. The maximum spine width is 56mm, so the available capacity also depends on your chosen paper.
Choose A6, A5, A4 or 210 x 210mm square, with portrait and landscape options where applicable. Custom sizes are available from 103 x 148mm up to 300 x 300mm.
Choose your finished book size before preparing the artwork so your cover and inner pages match the dimensions ordered.
Silk offers a smooth surface with a subtle sheen, while gloss gives photographs and graphics a shinier finish. Uncoated paper has a natural matt feel and is suitable for writing on. Recycled paper provides a matt finish made from recycled fibres.

Yes. You can select Full Colour or Black Only separately for the cover and inner pages. This allows you to combine a full colour cover with black only text inside, or choose full colour throughout for photographs, illustrations and graphics.
Choose matt lamination for a smooth finish with less reflection, gloss lamination for a shiny appearance, or soft touch lamination for a velvety feel.
For selected design elements, gold or silver foil adds a metallic effect, while spot UV adds a raised gloss finish. Foil and spot UV aren’t compatible with uncoated or recycled covers. The available finishing options depend on your chosen cover specification.
Select your inner paper stock and weight, then enter the total page count, including the four cover pages. The product configurator will display your spine width in millimetres. Use this measurement when setting up your cover artwork.
You can include a design or text on the spine, provided it fits clearly within the available width. If you change the paper or page count, check the spine measurement again and update your artwork. The maximum spine width is 56mm.

Perfect bound books don’t open completely flat. Some content near the centre can be obscured by the glued binding and the curve of the pages.
